# Chat

> Use the chat step in Novu Framework to send messages to Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, and other chat providers as part of a workflow.

The `chat` step allows you to send messages to various chat platforms like Slack, Discord, and Microsoft Teams.

## Example Usage

```tsx theme={null}
await step.chat('chat', async () => {
  return {
    body: 'A new post has been created',
  };
});
```

## Chat Step Output

## Chat Step Result

The `chat` step does not return any result object.
