Novu supports one-way Google Chat notifications through incoming webhooks. Each webhook delivers messages to the Google Chat space where it was created.
Incoming webhooks cannot receive messages or interactions from Google Chat. Use this integration for outbound notifications to a space.

Create an incoming webhook

  1. Open the Google Chat space that should receive notifications.
  2. Open the space menu and select Apps & integrations.
  3. Under Webhooks, click Add webhooks.
  4. Enter a name for the webhook and click Save.
  5. Copy the generated webhook URL.
Your Google Workspace administrator must allow incoming webhooks. If the option is unavailable, ask your administrator to enable them.

Connect the webhook to a subscriber

  1. In the Novu Dashboard, create or select a Google Chat integration.
  2. Open Subscribers and select the subscriber that represents the destination.
  3. Add a Google Chat channel endpoint.
  4. Select Webhook, paste the incoming webhook URL, and save it.
You can also store the webhook URL through the subscriber credentials API. Use google-chat as the provider ID and provide the URL as webhookUrl.

Send a notification

Add a chat step to a workflow and select the Google Chat integration. When the workflow runs for the linked subscriber, Novu posts the message to the configured Google Chat space. Google Chat limits incoming webhooks to one request per second per space. For current limits and supported message formats, see the Google Chat webhook documentation.
